As previously announced by the authorities of Ruda Śląska and the Management Board of Tramwaje Śląskie S.A. The modernization of another section of the tram infrastructure in the city will begin soon. This time, the works will be carried out in the Godula district, informs Andrzej Zowada, spokesman for Tramwaje Śląskie. The agreement on this matter was signed on Monday, March 16, 2020.
Over the years, the tram line No. 9 has not been modernized.
Tramwaje Śląskie emphasize that this investment has been recognized as one of the priority investment tasks related to tram communication. - This is an extremely important line, connecting several cities, which is the primary means of communication for many passengers, which is why we want to significantly improve its technical condition and provide passengers with the best travel comfort - says Bolesław Knapik, President of the Management Board of Tramwaje Śląskie S.A. These words are confirmed in the documentation, and the "Integrated Project for the modernization and development of tram infrastructure in the Silesian-Zagłębie Agglomeration along with the purchase of tram rolling stock" carried out by the company includes several sections of the line No. 9 track.
At the beginning of 2020, a tender was settled and a contractor for the reconstruction of the tram infrastructure along Karol Godula street in Ruda Śląska. The investment will be carried out by the Krakow company TOR-KRAK, As part of the investment, the contractor will modernize approx. 2,900 meters of single track (mtp). The time to complete this task is 12 months from the date of signing the contract. - On behalf of the Contractor, I would like to declare that we will try to complete the task with the full involvement of forces and resources, with the least possible difficulties for road users and the lives of local residents
