Trams in Sosnowiec returned to their normal route along Żeromskiego and Mariacka Streets on Saturday, March 23, 2019. This is not the end of the renovation in this place, because this is how the finishing works will continue. However, they will no longer affect tram traffic at this location. In turn, today, on Monday, March 25, the renovation of another track on ul. Staszica. Passengers felt it on Saturday because it shortened the route of line 24.
Passengers waited three months for the works to end along Żeromskiego and Mariacka Streets. According to the company Tramwaje Śląskie, the contractor has completed the entire track scope of the investment, which allows the resumption of tram traffic along Żeromskiego and Mariacka Streets in Sosnowiec after two new tracks.
In the coming weeks, finishing and cleaning works will be carried out. The most important thing, however, is that - as announced by the contractor - the trams will return to their regular routes on the agreed date.
From 23/03/2019, the trams run as planned:
trams of line no. 21 will run on the following route: Tworzeń Huta Katowice - Sosnowiec Milowice loop;
trams of line no. 26 will run on the following route: Mysłowice Dworzec - Sosnowiec Milowice loop;
trams of the line no. 27 will run on the following route: Kazimierz Górniczy loop - Będzin Os. Zamkowe loop;
line no. 28 will run on the following route: Będzin Os. Zamkowe loop - Dąbrowa Górnicza Labor Office also on Saturdays;
trams of line no. 42 will run according to the updated timetable;
temporary line 44 will be suspended.
The general contractor for the works in Pogoń in Sosnowiec is the Krakow company TOR-KRAK. The same company was chosen to perform the renovation of the track in another district of Sosnowiec - Konstantynów. Here, from Monday, March 25, the renovation of the track along ul. Staszica to the track triangle at the intersection with ul. Okrzei.
Due to these works, the route of line No. 24 will be shortened.
From Saturday, 23/03/2019, trams of line no. 24 run in the following relation:
Sosnowiec Railway Station - Konstantynów Shopping Center.
